A “Spring Series” in Sweden and Finland

FasterSkierJanuary 28, 2009

There are several races in the North this spring that coincide with April break and Easter. We’ve arranged for a small group to do a two race series that includes a continuous pursuit in Pitea in Northern Sweden, two races in Tornio, and Rovaniemi, in Finland and three more in Bruksvallarna, Sweden in a fun wrap up to the season. The Pitea and Bruksvallarna races will likely be of a very high standard as most of the Swedish team will attend and juniors will be mixed in with the big guns. All races require FIS numbers and provide points.

The group will be small, @ 6 athletes and the trip is geared toward J1- U-23 ages. Ground cost: lodging, rental van, and most food is estimated at @ $2300-2500 for April 1 – 21. Some hotels, some crashing with athletes from the ski gymnasium in Solleftea. We’ll spend quite a bit of time with local coaches and skiers.

The touring in between could be awesome. Food is good too. Three spots remain. Flights to a common meeting point are fine. Good prices out of Boston. Details and a final “go/no go” decision on 6, Feb.
