The Department of Health & Human Development (HHD) at Montana State University (MSU) in Bozeman, MT, is accepting applications for graduate study in applied exercise physiology (Masters degree only; Fall 2009). Dr Dan Heil (dheil@montana.edu), an Associate Professor in exercise physiology, studies physiological and biomechanical determinants of Nordic skiing performance, develops models for the energetic of energy expenditure during maximal performances and every day activities, as well as the use of electronic monitoring devices for tracking free-living behavior. Dr John Seifert (john.seifert@montana.edu), an Associate Professor in exercise physiology, studies determinants of muscular fatigue in Alpine skiers, the physiological responses to acute cold exposure, as well the potential influence of nutrition supplements on physical performance.

Qualifications: In general, the best qualified applicants will have an undergraduate degree in Exercise Science, or related field (such as biology), with undergraduate coursework that includes:
Anatomy and Physiology (1 yr + labs)
Inorganic Chemistry
Physics
Statistics
Anatomical Kinesiology
Biomechanics
Exercise Physiology
Exercise Testing & Prescription
Applicants who do not have this coursework within their submitted transcripts when applying, may be required to take some or all of these courses as prerequisites to the HHD graduate program in exercise physiology.
Deadline for Applications: While applicants can apply at any time to the graduate program, the first round of reviews for applicants wanting to begin in the Fall of 2009 begins after February 15th, 2009.
