Clinic Options, Race Correction, and Kids Activities
We are getting closer to the 2009 Yellowstone Ski Festival and this year is sure to be a blast. All of your favorite Nordic vendors and a few new and unique companies will be in West Yellowstone this year. With the Olympics in the near future, we expect to see many of the big names in cross country ski racing on the Rendezvous Ski Trails later in the month. Top all of that off with specialty clinics and fun activities for the whole family and you have a one-of-a-kind vacation at the Yellowstone Ski Festival.
Register for the Nordic clinics now! Space is filling up. As of November 4, 2009 there are only 2 spaces left on the Thursday one-day skate clinic and one more spot on the Friday one-day classic clinic. All other clinics are still showing limited availability. The five and three day options are great to really kick start your season. Start off with the right technique and be amazed at your skiing enjoyment all winter long.
USSA SuperTour Update: The information we received from USSA has been updated. Thank you XC Oregon for catching the discrepancy. West Yellowstone will host three USSA SuperTour races this month. On Wednesday, November 25 all skiers are invited to race in the 1.47k Wild West Sprint Showdown. A $250 purse is offered to the fastest male and female. Entry fee is only $20. Competitive skiers can earn points and recreational skiers can test their skills against the sport’s top athletes. This race is great for juniors trying to pick up competitive experience. A Men’s 15K and Women’s 10K FREESTYLE race will take place on Friday, November 27th. The Men’s 10K and Women’s 5K CLASSIC race will take place on Saturday, November 28th . This is different than previously posted. Please update your race schedule to include the new West Yellowstone line-up. Online registration will be available tonight at http://www.yellowstoneskifestival.com/race-registration/
Don’t forget to bring the whole family to the 2009 Yellowstone Ski Festival! We have a wide variety of programs and events scheduled for fourth the week of November. Kids can create a Thanksgiving memory they will not soon forget. Let them spend the week enjoying daily programs and becoming a keeper kid at the Grizzly Discovery Center, making smores at the town park, reviving their Halloween costume and running in the Turkey Trot, swimming at the hotel pool, xc skiing with you, and bidding on a pie at the dessert auction. We did not forget about the big kids either. Find the wax for you at one of the twelve wax clinics, take in a little ski porn at the Backcountry Film Festival, talk to Nordic experts and competitive racers one-on-one, tap your toes to the sounds of local bands, and best of all – SKI!
We are looking forward to seeing old friends and making new ones at this year’s Yellowstone Ski Festival.
