Laura Valaas (APU), a native of the Methow Valley, dominated the women’s SuperTour sprint today, leading wire-to-wire.
“I was thrilled to be racing in the Methow again; it’s been a long time since I’ve had a ski race this close to where I grew up,” Valaas told FasterSkier.
“Despite being slushy earlier this week, the course held up and remained fast throughout the entire day,” she continued. “I really appreciated all the time volunteers spent shoveling snow onto the course to keep us skiing on nice clean snow.
“For the semis & final I lead start to finish, not because it was a tactical advantage, just because I felt like skiing aggressively and making other people chase.”
