The FasterSkier team has arrived in Whistler for three weeks of reporting from the 2010 Olympic Games. We will be bringing you live and in-depth coverage of every event on the program for cross country, biathlon, and nordic combined.
We’re staying in Whistler village, roughly half an hour from Whistler Olympic Park (WOP), where all of the nordic events are taking place. We spent yesterday getting our feet under us, while today we are in Vancouver for the opening ceremonies.
The weather is unseasonably warm—there’s almost no snow on the ground in the village. Reports from WOP are that the skiing is soft and sloppy, but with a dumping of snow expected for tonight, things should be totally different tomorrow—typical for this venue.
The women’s biathlon 7.5k sprint will kick things off tomorrow morning. We’ll have live coverage from there, as well as a report from the opening ceremonies, and hopefully a few other tidbits, today, too.
As part of our Olympic Coverage, we have created a dedicated Olympic page. It can be found at http://fasterskier.com/olympics. You can also access it form the homepage by clicking the “Olympic Coverage” banner in the upper left. There is also a new Olympic link in the top menu that will take you directly to the coverage page.
Our Olympic page features all our Olympic content, plus regularly updated “Photos of the Moment,” a list of new blog posts related to the Olympics, and bios on all the US XC team. We are in the process of getting the Canadians up as well.
While it may be the biggest stage, the Olympic Games are not the only ski events going on. FasterSkier will continue to cover regional and international marathons, the SuperTour, NorAms, etc…. Visiting the Olympic page will will guarantee you don’t miss anything from Vancouver!
