UNM dominated the first day at the New Mexico Invite here in Red River. In the men’s race Martin Kaas UNM won his 3rd race of the season followed by his teammate Pierre Niess in second only 5.6 seconds back. Ryan Scott from MSU took third only 1.2 seconds behind Niess. UNM easily won the men’s team score with their third scorer Tor-Hakon Hellebostad in fourth place. On the women’s side the MSU girls won the first day placing three girls in the top 10. Polina Ermoshina from New Mexico won the women’s race 9 seconds in front of Antje Maempel from Denver, Casey Kutz from MSU took third.
With victories is in both the men’s and the women’s races New Mexico leads the nordic portion of the UNM Invite with 28 points over of Montana in second and CU is in third.
