Monday, 15th November, marked the 100-days-to-go milestone for the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in Oslo (NOR), Norwegian Minister of Culture Anniken Huitfeldt and Åsne Havnelid, CEO of Oslo 2011, celebrated the occasion at the World Championships Pavilion in downtown Oslo with an update on the great volunteer efforts that will be supporting the current team of Oslo 2011 during the event.
Altogether there will be 2’200 volunteers that will be offering their help. The volunteers will represent 50 different nationalities and 80% of them are residents of Oslo or Akershus.
On behalf of the Ministry of Culture, Anniken Huitfeldt announced the additional support of 1’000’000 Norwegian crowns that will be allocated to supporting the volunteers during the Oslo Championships. The voluntary labor of the 2’200 volunteers can be estimated to equal 100 labor years, which makes the Oslo 2011 organization very grateful for the great interest and willingness of these ski enthusiasts to donate their time.
