AUBURN, N.H., and Minneapolis, Minn. — Fischer Skis U.S. is proud to announce a two-year commitment as a sponsor of the City of Lakes Loppet. The City of Lakes Loppet takes place in Minneapolis, Minn., on February 5-6, 2011, embracing a festival format and adding tours, vendor expos, snow sculpture contests and still more events around snow.

John Munger, director of the Loppet celebrated the new partnership saying, “We are excited to work with Fischer on the 2011 City of Lakes Loppet. Fischer’s sponsorship will help us teach even more disadvantaged children how to ski.”

As a part of the collaboration between Fischer and the notable event, 25 sets of junior equipment will go to the City of Lakes Loppet Foundation. It will be used to support introductory skiing to economically disadvantaged youth throughout the twin cities. Fischer has a history of success at the Loppet and this ongoing sponsorship promises even greater connection to one of the country’s premier marathons.

“The City of Lakes Loppet has established a position on the U.S. calendar as a marathon favorite,” noted Chris Hall, head of racing services for Fischer U.S. “We’re thrilled that our work with the City of Lakes Loppet will bring more skiing to a region already known for its loyalty to the sport.”

The City of Lakes Loppet celebrates its tenth year with the 2011 event. More information on the Loppet can be found at www.cityoflakesloppet.com.
