Fun and Fast at The 2nd Annual SportHill Crescent Lake Challenge

Skiers race off the line at the 2nd annual SportHill Crescent Lake Challenge cross country ski race.

The 2nd annual SportHill Crescent Lake Challenge 14.1 mile cross country ski race around Crescent Lake race was held Sunday, January 16.  Bend skiers dominated the standing but much of the Willamette valley was represented as well as skiers from as far away as Vancouver,Canada.  Ages ranged from Wally Ceccanese of Eugene, 11, up to Reider Peterson of Bend, 71.  Race director Jim Hill summed it up by saying: “It was wet but really fun, and fast.”   The men’s overall winners, both for a second year in a row, were Eric Martin of Bend who set a course record of 1:00:57 and Sarah Max of Bend who set a women’s course record of 1:11:23.
