The top tier of long distance ski racing across Europe will in 2013 consist of the six most prestigous long distance ski races, culminating in the Ski Classics Final in Sweden.
After two seasons, the Ski Classics Series, has expanded with live TV broadcast of all races to over fifteen markets; increased prize money for the top teams, greater professional athletes and greater numbers of age-group participants. The 2013 Calendar will includes the epic Jizerska Padesatka, Marcialonga and König Ludwig Lauf. After the first three races there will be 4 weeks of recovery/training period. Thereafter the series unleashes again with Vasaloppet, Birkebeiner and Ski Classics Final, all races between 50km-90km in length. Defending Champions include Anders Aukland, Team Xtra Personell and Jenny Hansson Team Exspirit.Top team was the Norwegian Team Xtra Personell.
“The calendar for Ski Classics 2013 offers an exciting final in Sweden in 2013 and 2014 with the exact venue to be revealed later. The Ski Classic final date is set to March 23rd and it will be 75km, open falso for amatuer skiers. ANother news in the annual calendar is the move of Jizerska with one week, allowing the more intense racing calendar for the top skiers.” said David Nilsson, Executive Director, Ski Classics.
