NNF announces the 2013 NNF Cup post–Nationals standings. The NNF cup was launched in the 2012 season to increase the awareness of America’s premier cross country club programs and simultaneously increase the competitive nature of these clubs to entice them to strive to even do even better. CXC won last season’s inaugural cup followed by APUNSC and then SVSEF. The 2013 NNF Cup post-Nationals standings have APUNSC with a commanding overall lead, more than doubling the second place Sun Valley (who is leading the Men’s ranking) with the Craftsbury Green Racing in 3rd.
While Nordic Skiing is considered an individual sport, no athlete can do it alone. Just ask Kikkan (APU), Jessie (Stratton), or Noah (Ski and Snowboard Club Vail). They are the foundation of the sport we love in our American Nordic community from Boston to Minneapolis/St. Paul to Wausau, Durango and Fairbanks, where there are Nordic sports there is a Nordic club. The club programs develop and support athletes from first time skiers until they retire from the sport decades later. These clubs are the athlete’s teams and the athletes wear their club colors proudly. The competition between clubs to be the best is raising the level of support and success for the nation as a whole. A rivalry between clubs makes everyone work harder. The NNF Cup aims to increase the recognition of what our nation’s top clubs are doing to prepare athletes to be competitive internationally.
