In our effort to help improve and support American Nordic skiing, the board of the National Nordic Foundation is excited to announce that it be sponsoring the 2013 USSA SuperTour Finals and U.S. Cross Country Skiing Distance Nationals. These important season-concluding events are hosted by Far West Nordic in Truckee, California April 4-11.
SuperTour Finals are a critical piece to our athletes’ development. These races are the lone chance for any ski racer in the country to compete against our nation’s best skiers who have been a force on the World Cup over the season. Additionally, there will be top skiers from Canada, Norway, and Sweden helping to make this the most competitive event on the U.S. race calendar.
“Far West Nordic is pleased to have the collaboration of The National Nordic Foundation for SuperTour Finals and US Distance Nationals this April 4-11, 2013. NNF’s support has allowed Far West Nordic to attract National Team skiers from the International stage and will help defray these athlete’s costs. Having these international caliber skiers here in Tahoe will increase the level of competition and elevate the buzz surrounding this event. Thank You NNF! We couldn’t pull this caliber of event off without your involvement,” states Far West board vice president August Teague.
Already this season, the National Nordic Foundation has committed up to nearly $150,000 to support athlete development opportunities including the National J2 Camp, U18 Scando Cup, World Junior/U23 Word Junior Championships, World Cup, World Championships, and Continental Cup racing. We are excited to be helping provide an increased level competition and international exposure for our developing racers whether they have the chance to get to Europe or not.
