Who Entered and What They Get

Entries were submitted to the American Birkebeiner Ski Foundation’s annual Birkie T-Shirt Design Contest on June 10. The prize for the winning T-shirt
designer is a pair of Fischer Carbonlite skate or classic skis. plus bindings and installation from New Moon Ski & Bike Shop, Hayward, WI.

“Again this year there were so many creative ideas,” said Susan Kendrick, Media/PR Director for the American Birkebeiner Ski Foundation. “We had intended to pick the top three for online voting, but had to expand that to five again, just like last year, to allow more of these great designs in the running.”

Anyone can enter this annual contest, now in its forth year. No design experience is necessary. Many contestants are Birkie skiers, family, or friends and some are just captivated by the idea of the Birkie and bring that out in their designs. And, contestants can submit as many designs as they like.

“We encourage anyone to participate, including those who have submitted entries in the past,” said Kendrick. “In fact, one of our finalists this year had entered the past two years without making it to online voting. Another design was a re-submission; it did not make the final five last year but did this year.”

To Benefit Youth Ski Programs Nationwide

Proceeds from sales of the official 2014 T-shirt will benefit youth ski programs nationwide. “We hope that people will be part of this effort to support youth skiing,” said Kendrick. “It is our goal to support a lifestyle of year-round health, fitness, and outdoor recreation. Getting behind youth ski programs through our annual T-shirt sales is one more way to do this.”
