A spirited road cycling event to benefit for Friends of Stowe Adaptive Sports.
The Darn Tough Ride, Stowe’s only road cycling event returns on Sunday, September 6th and as always, promises lots of new fun challenges for cyclists of all ability. No need to let the name scare you, the Darn Tough Ride will soon become the highlight of your Labor Day holiday weekend and a perfect ride for everyone in the family.
This marks the fourth straight year that the Northfield Vermont-based sock maker Darn Tough Vermont is presenting sponsor of the event. Given the proximity to Montreal and Quebec, many cyclists travel from Canada and all over New England to be a part of the fun event considered by many as a perfect ride to conclude a long season on the bike.
Participants can choose between the four scenic rides offered. Although the final routes will not be formally announced until July 11th, organizers have been out and about scoping new routes for 2015. Offered will be a TOUGH Century loop including two challenging timed hill climbs, a scenic 60 mile, a fun 45 mile loop around Mt. Mansfield, and a perfect family ride on Stowe roads everyone is sure to enjoy. No matter how you look at it, this will be THE perfect ride to conclude a long season on the bike. Hand-cyclists are once again invited to join the 20 mile ride leaving from the Commodores Inn.
Proceeds from the Darn Tough Ride benefit Friends of Stowe Adaptive Sports, a non-profit organization offering skiing, snowboarding, swimming and water sports scholarships to local and area people living with disabilities.
The Commodores Inn on South Main Street in Stowe will once again serve as the hub of all activities. The hotel has blocked a few rooms for participants and offers a preferential rate when calling directly at 800 447 8693.
The Darn Tough Ride is partnering up with the NorthFace Race to the Top of Vermont and offering the “Toughest of them ALL Award.” This most prestigious award will go to the man and woman with the fastest combined time at both events (bike or run in RTTTOVT) and combined hill time climbs of the 100 mile Darn Tough ride.
Start recruiting your friends and working on your pedal power, as this will be a ride to remember! The ride will be limited to the first 300 entrants and online registration is now open.
Many thanks to all of our valuable sponsor including Darn Tough Vermont , Fit Werx, Lamoille Valley Ford, Powershift, The Stowe Reporter, Commodores Inn, Gallagher Flynn and Company, Louis Garneau, Cabot Creamery, Faster Skier and Vermont Smoke and Cure.
