Ski picking trips are on the calendar and the list of hand-selected skis is growing this spring as customers bring in their skis for analysis. Here at Pioneer Midwest, there is no charge for ski analysis as we are happy to help you figure out what skis are working well for you and what sort of ski you would benefit from most. Production this year will be limited so we will be planning to be at each manufacturer around peak production times in order to ensure that we are picking from the best quality and highest numbers of inventory in the calendar year. This year we will be grinding and prepping each of our hand-picked pairs of skis in order to guarantee the highest structure quality for your new pair. While we look at the fit and quality of flex of your skis we can also take a look at base health and get your skis checked in for our stone grind special in order to make sure your skis will be ready to go when you go and grab them next fall.

Send or bring your skis in to take advantage of our spring grind special! We saw extended periods of extreme cold this winter with many of the major midwest marathons being sub 0 degrees Fahrenheit at the startline. Ironing all that cold hard wax is tough on your ski bases and structure which impacts your skis ability to retain wax or handle moisture. As we saw in many races this season like the Birkie, the quality of grind and base played a huge role in ski speed further into the event.
Whether you are racing or not, a stone grind makes your wax go further by cutting new structure and refreshing the base material on your skis. With our stoneground special, we will be including a free hot box and base harden to make sure your skis are prepped and coated for summer storage without the need for a specific coat of storage wax. When the snow flies you can scrape/brush and put on the wax of your choice in order to have skis that glide like new.
