The Teton Valley Ski Education Foundation (TVSEF) is looking for a team player with excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication with a passion for snow and youth sports to join our team. We have job openings for a Head Prep and Comp Coach, Prep and Comp Assistant Coaches, Development Assistant Coaches, and Recreation Assistant Coaches.
Head Prep and Comp Coach – This position is responsible for overseeing the cross country prep and comp programs (U12-18, 20 kids) and the coaching staff for those programs. Focus is on cross country technique and fitness for lifelong love of the sport and for competition. Seasonal Sept.-April, opportunity to become year round. Development Assistant Coach – This position is responsible for working with the cross country devo program (ages 7-10). Focus is on outdoor recreation, an introduction to competition, teamwork, sportsmanship, good body position, balance, and weight shift while skiing in all terrains and under a variety of conditions. Skiers learn skate and classic techniques with an introduction to basic training and conditioning to increase stamina and strength. A full job description can be found here.
Recreation Assistant Coach – This position is responsible for working with the cross country rec program (ages 5-6). Focus is “fun on snow”, ski skills learned through play, and gaining an understanding of teamwork and sportsmanship. Skiers learn the basics of classic skiing technique and fitness training, as well as a general appreciation of and respect for cross country ski equipment. A full job description can be found here.
Particular emphasis is placed on whole athlete development, helping athletes achieve personal goals, and building solid athletes by focusing on fundamental skills, sound decision making, mental health, and teamwork. Responsibilities include, but not limited to, coaching, equipment maintenance, waxing, event assistance, correspondence with parents and athletes, maintaining good partner relations, being a positive ambassador for the club, and daily, seasonal, and annual planning. TVSEF seeks coaches who are good teachers and mentors.
These are seasonal positions, approx. November-March. Positions will be tailored to match the strengths of the applicant with the needs of the program and the rest of the coaching staff. Preferred candidates for all positions will have experience working with young athletes, and upper level preferred candidates will have collegiate/national level racing experience, an interest in cross country race support, and/or be knowledgeable about roller skiing. Compensation starts at $18/hour for assistant coaches and $30/hour for head coaches. Cross country trail pass provided. Grand Targhee Resort season pass provided at a discounted rate.
