The above discretionary selection process will be repeated for each period of World Cup this coming season.
World Cup Discretionary Nomination Selection Dates
You can find all finalized selection criteria for the 2022-23 World Cup, the 2023 Planica Nordic World Championships, the 2023 Whistler World Junior and U23 World Champs, the U18 Nordic Nations Championships, the 2023-24 U.S. Ski Team, etc. here:

The World Cup Coaches’ Discretion Working Group will nominate athletes to World Cup Periods 2-4 on the following dates:
- World Cup Period 2 – Tour de Ski ( 31, 2022 – Jan. 8, 2023)
- Selection date: Wednesday Dec. 14, 2022
- Some quota spots may need to be left open for those athletes who either make the objective World Cup standard or have outstanding performances in the Davos World Cup after the above selection date.
- World Cup Period 3 – ITA, FRA, ITA ( 21 – Feb. 5, 2023)
- Selection date: Monday January 9, 2023
- WC Period 4 – NOR, SWE, EST, FIN ( 11-26, 2023)
- Selection date: Monday February 20, 2023
- Some quota spots may need to be left open for outstanding performances at the American Birkie which may influence nominations for the Holmenkollen 50 km.
