Nordiq Canada Seeks Head Coach for Senior National Cross-Country Ski Team

Nordiq Canada is the national governing body for cross-country skiing in Canada. We lead, support, and inspire world-leading performances and lifelong participation in the sport across the country.

The Opportunity

Nordiq Canada is seeking an experienced and dynamic Head Coach to lead the Canadian Senior National Cross-Country Ski Team.

Reporting to the High-Performance Director, the Head Coach provides leadership to athletes, coaches, and performance support staff in pursuit of sustained international success. The successful candidate will lead preparation for major international competitions and work collaboratively across Canada’s high-performance system to align national team programming with the broader athlete development pathway.

This is an exciting opportunity for an exceptional coach with strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills to contribute to a high-performance culture focused on achieving podium performances at the Olympic Games, World Championships, and World Cup events.

Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Performance
  • Lead and implement the Canadian Senior National Cross-Country Ski Team program and performance plan.
  • Plan and deliver world-class training, competition preparation, and performance strategies.
  • Lead the team at major international competitions including World Cups, World Championships, and Olympic Games.
Program Alignment
  • Work closely with the High-Performance Director to align the Senior National Team program with Canada’s broader high-performance system.
  • Collaborate with national training centres and personal coaches to support athlete development and progression.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the national high-performance strategy.

Athlete & Staff Development
  • Mentor and support assistant coaches and performance support staff.
  • Foster a collaborative, athlete-centered culture built on excellence, accountability, and trust.
  • Promote strong communication among athletes, coaches, and support personnel.
Planning & Operations
  • Plan and oversee training camps and competition schedules.
  • Work with sport science and sport medicine professionals to support athlete testing, monitoring, health, and performance.
  • Contribute to program evaluation and continuous improvement.

Qualifications
  • Proven experience coaching at the international high-performance level.
  • Experience leading or supporting teams at World Cup, World Championship, or Olympic level competitions.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor athletes and staff within a collaborative team environment.
  • Strong understanding of factors that drive international success in cross-country skiing.
Working Conditions
  • Extensive domestic and international travel throughout the year for training camps and competitions.
  • Frequent work in outdoor winter sport environments.
  • Occasional evening and weekend work required.
