Auburn Ski Club (ASC) is a historic non-profit organization dedicated to providing snow sports opportunities to the greater Northern California region since 1928. Today, ASC operates a snow sports Training Center on Donner Summit that provides athletic programs, USSS/FIS competition and training venues, and youth snow sports teams ranging from entry-level to elite for Alpine, Snowboard, Nordic, and Biathlon. The Training Center’s cross-country venue also operates as a 25-kilometer Nordic Center open to the public.
ASC is now hiring a Head Coach for its Nordic Competition Program.
Position Overview
The Head Coach of the Nordic Competition Program is a full-time, 11-month leadership position focused on athlete development, competitive excellence, and long-term program growth. This role is designed for an energetic and collaborative leader who is passionate about developing athletes through an athlete-centered approach while helping strengthen the broader Nordic community throughout the Far West region.
The Head Coach will lead the Competition Team while working collaboratively across all levels of the Nordic pipeline to create a cohesive, supportive, and development-focused culture. This individual will play a key role in shaping athlete progression, supporting coaches and families, and helping ASC continue to provide meaningful opportunities for athletes of all abilities and aspirations.

- Full-time, 11-month salaried position (June–April)
- Annual salary based on experience
- Salary structure includes coaching hours, administrative responsibilities, and flex time off
- ASC 401(k) program with annual 3% salary match
Key Responsibilities
Athlete Development & Coaching
- Lead and oversee the Nordic Competition Program year-round
- Plan and deliver summer dryland training programming
- Develop and oversee athlete progression plans that include strength and conditioning
- Foster a positive, athlete-centered training environment focused on long-term development, retention, and lifelong participation
- Support athletes pursuing opportunities ranging from regional competition to national-level racing
- Support the development of training opportunities for volunteer staff to support the mission of ASC
- Collaborate with regional programs
- Execute development camps, including travel logistics and budget input
- Provide JNQ/JN support and waxing/event support as it pertains to the Competition Program
Program Collaboration & Leadership
- Work collaboratively with Devo and Development coaching staff to strengthen the athlete pipeline across all program levels
- Support CNISSF racing and competitions hosted at ASC
- Participate in Competition Services planning meetings to ensure athlete development remains a central focus of event execution and programming
- Help cultivate a culture of teamwork, mentorship, and sportsmanship across the ASC Nordic community
Community & Regional Engagement
- Serve as a positive leader and role model within the Far West Nordic community
- Work collaboratively with other regional teams and organizations to support healthy growth and opportunity throughout the region
- Support initiatives that create access, inclusion, and development opportunities for athletes at every level
- Potential leadership role representing ASC at the FW Junior Committee or FW Board
Communication & Family Engagement
- Maintain consistent and proactive communication with athletes and families
- Lead parent education opportunities surrounding athlete development, training progression, and competition pathways
- Help families navigate opportunities within the sport while maintaining a balanced, athlete-centered perspective
