TRUCKEE, Calif. (May 22, 2015) – Headed by the Sustainable Forestry Initiative Inc. (SFI), approximately 40 organizations across the United States and Canada came together on May 20 with a goal to plant over 200,000 trees simultaneously in one hour in an effort to break a world record for a cause. With wedding season fast approaching, Tahoe Donner is pleased to receive a Best of Weddings 2015 award by The Knot, a multi-media company headquartered in New York City, N.Y. that publishes content for couples planning weddings. This award is presented to the highest-rated wedding venues and professionals as reviewed by real couples, their families and wedding guests on The Knot.

Introduced by National Ski Areas Association, January is known as Learn to Ski and Snowboard Month, a national effort to introduce newcomers to snowsports. Tahoe Donner Downhill and Cross Country Ski Areas are proud to participate in this program by offering beginner packages to those new to the sport. Between Jan. 5-9 and Jan. 12-16 those who have never tried skiing or snowboarding can take advantage of deeply discounted learn to ski and snowboard deals.

Tahoe Donner Cross Country Ski Center opened Dec. 8 and is currently open daily from 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. with half-day rates of $22 ($14 for homeowners) for an all-day trail pass. After 1 p.m., twilight rates of $17 ($12 for homeowners) are offered. Rental equipment is available. Alder Creek Café is open on a limited basis with coffee, tea, soup and muffins.
