Young German Relay Dusts Women’s Field; Canada 10th, U.S. Matches Season-Best 12th at IBU World Champs

Germany's Vanessa Hinz relied on fast skiing and precise shooting to give her team a 30-second lead heading into the last leg of Friday's 4 x 6 k relay at IBU World Championships, and teammate Laura Dahlmeier ran away with it to win by more than a minute. Canada achieved its top-10 team goal, and the U.S. matched its season best in 12th.

Sprint Smørebom Banished, Dunklee Flies High in Ruhpolding Mass Start; Domracheva Wins, Heinicke 23rd

Missing the wax meant that Susan Dunklee's good feelings about Friday's sprint didn't show up on the results sheet. But the U.S. biathlete turned it around in the mass start, taking her now-fast skis all the way up to third before falling to 16th place, still a season best. Megan Heinicke, in the first mass start of her career, finished 23rd for Canada.

In the Spotlight, Crawford Pulls Off Seventh in Pokljuka Pursuit; Domracheva Comes Out Strong (Updated)

Darya Domracheva was the big winner on Saturday in the IBU World Cup 10 k pursuit, but there were some personal victories Canadians Rosanna Crawford and Megan Heinicke achieved throughout the race as well. For one, Crawford clawed her way back into seventh after two early misses, and Heinicke went from 41st to 14th as one of two women to clean.
