Skyler Davis, former USST member and SMS T2 racer, retired from skiing in 2014. Since then he's picked up soccer and is finding success at the University of Vermont where he was recently named the team's captain.

Photos of some of the top finishers in the U.S. Cross Country Championships men's freestyle sprint on Sunday. Dakota Blackhorse-von Jess of the Bend Endurance Academy won it by nearly two seconds in 2:41.37 to advance to the heats, which start at 1 p.m. MST.

Some of the most competitive skiers in the U.S. SuperTour circuit give thanks and express appreciation for friends and family before, during and after their Thanksgiving ski sessions in West Yellowstone, Mont., one day before the SuperTour opens there on Friday.
Katerina Smutna of Austria topped U.S. Ski Team members Ida Sargent and Sophie Caldwell in Thursday's on-snow sprint at Frozen Thunder, and Dakota Blackhorse-von Jess led an American sweep of the hypothetical podium in what was essentially the first race of the season.
With Fast and Female catering to young female skiers for the last eight years, Andy Newell and Simi Hamilton finally came up with an option for boys: Speed Camp. On Sunday afternoon, the same time as Fast and Female's Champ Camp, the U.S. Ski Team hosted its first all-male camp for juniors at Soldier Hollow.
Three of seven men on the U.S. Ski Team were not renamed to the 2013/2014 national squad, including Skyler Davis, Tad Elliott and Kris Freeman. Erik Bjornsen confirmed he's been promoted to the B-team, where he'll join Simi Hamilton and Noah Hoffman.

SMST2 Reigns in Craftsbury Spring Tour Sprints; O’Brien Scores One for Home Team in Prologue

Recently back from Europe, Sophie Caldwell has dominated Craftsbury's mini-tour so far, winning the 3.6 k prologue by over 30 seconds and the sprint qualifier by ten. The men's field is tighter, after Pat O'Brien and Paddy Caldwell dueled it out in the prologue and then the sprint final came down to a drag race between SMST2 teammates Eric Packer and Skyler Davis.
Sophie Caldwell and Erik Bjornsen posted personal bests in the classic sprint at U23 World Championships in Liberec, Czech Republic. The Americans each made it as far as the semifinals; Caldwell finished ninth and Bjornsen was 10th.
Bad Luck Halts American Men in Liberec Semifinals

Simi Hamilton and Andy Newell began their semifinal in good position with the leaders in the Liberec team sprint, but got unlucky when a Finn fell in front of Hamilton before the last exchange. The duo finished fifth in the heat for 13th overall and did not advance to the finals.
Andy Newell was sixth in Liberec, Czech Republic, on Saturday for his third appearance in a sprint final this season. He was the only American to advance past the qualifier, but as this is the first World Cup since before the Tour for many, his teammates look forward to moving up from here on out.

Based on their recent results from Quebec City and Canmore, the USST has offered Sophie Caldwell and Skyler Davis the chance to start another World Cup in Liberec, Czech Republic, in mid January. The races there take place just before U23 Worlds at the same venue and fall just inside the selection period the USST will use to select its team for World Championships.
Andy Newell made his second consecutive sprint finals appearance, following up a 5th in Quebec City with the same result in Canmore. Teammate Skyler Davis finished 24th for his first World Cup points.
