One of the top high school Nordic ski programs in New England has initiated a search for a head coach. The Greely High School Nordic ski team (located in Cumberland, Maine) has won boys and/or girls state championships in each of the last five years. Greely has been represented by athletes at the Junior Olympics during the past two years, including three athletes who competed in Fairbanks this year. The successful candidate will have previous coaching experience, a strong technical background and, most importantly, a demonstrated ability to work successfully with high school athletes in a competitive, ethical, fun and positive atmosphere. The head coach will report to the Greely High School Athletic Director, who will provide overall objectives and final evaluation.
Interested and qualified candidates are encouraged to email or mail a letter of interest and contact information to John Eldridge, who will share the information with the search committee.

The Greely high school nordic ski team is an integral part of the Coastal Nordic Ski Club (CNSC) and is supported from a development standpoint by a strong Cumberland middle school nordic team (grades 7 & 8) which had over 40 kids skiing this year. Cumberland also has a very active CNSC Bill Koch youth program which had over 50 kids participating this year. The ski teams utilize the Twin Brook ski center which is located in the town of Cumberland, was designed by John Morton, has a piston bully groomer and an Areco snow-making system to ensure good skiing by early December. Our teams also train at the Pineland Ski Center located approximately 15 minutes from Cumberland which is a Maine Winter Sports Center (MWSC)facility and also has world-class piston bully groomed and designed skiing. There are NENSA-certified nordic coaches in the CNSC which support these programs and Southern Maine is one of the fastest growing regions in New England for nordic ski racing. We have had junior skiers participate in NENSA summer glacier skiing trips and various training camps. CNSC is also in the process of looking to establish a “sister-club” in either Solleftea or IFK Mora in Sweden for future cultural and training opportunities.
We are writing to people involved in the nordic ski community to help us in locating a future coach. Please consider who you know and if anyone might be interested in this postion please have them contact us at any time.
