Atomic’s Marathon Team flexed its formidable muscles on Sunday by taking first and third place in the China Vasaloppet. Stanislav Rezak of the Czech Republic won the 50km classic race with Oskar Svard of Sweden taking third. Both athletes are members of the Atomic Marathon Team. “We are pleased to win race!” exclaimed Atomic’s Race Director Peter Juric. “But we are even more excited that the guys did it with our new BI 5000 base. This is a new high density graphite base that we will be putting on our skate and classic skis. We have an exclusive for one year on this base and it will make the average guy a faster skier. It is fun that our Marathon Team has this base now. It holds wax so good that it is perfect for Marathons. We take any advantage we can get.”

Stanislav Rezak was upbeat after his victory. “I love Jingyuetan Park. But it is hard to concentrate on the race. There are so many beautiful sculptures, so many people in costumes, beautiful scenery. Be careful or you forget you are in race and you loose.” Team members Rezak and Svard worked together like a pair of cyclists during the 50km race over hilly terrain.

“It is a long way from Sweden,” commented Svard. “But we like coming here. It is important to establish World Loppet races outside of Europe. And China is important to the future of the sport.”
