On Saturday morning I joined the NMU cross country running and skiing teams in their annual 3000m time trial at the local high school track. This is about the 6th or 7th time I’ve done it and it hurts every time. I seem to forget that right up until about 100m into the 7 and a half laps. We always start out pretty fast because there can be about 30 girls on the track at the same time so we don’t want to get tangled up together.  I was feeling pretty good up until about lap 5 but was able to hold it together and finish with a time of 11:17. It was about 15 seconds slower than last year but I am not too worried about it because I have been doing more rollerski intervals this summer where last year I did more running intervals. Other than being a great hard work out its the first workout of the fall when everyone from both the running and ski teams get together and its nice to meet all of the new athletes coming in.
