It is less than a month before the beginning of the FIS Rollerski World Championship in Croatia.
Jürg Capol, cross-country race director for FIS and Pierre Teyssot, technical delegate of the World Championships visited Oroslavje to meet with organizers and to check the race tracks and overall organization. They shared their impressions with Croatian journalists in a press conference. Mr. Capol and Mr. Teyssot stated they were satisfied with the tracks and the current level of preparation.
– The organizing committee is ready for the race and I wish them luck in the coming days, said Capol.
Teyssot pointed out the live TV coverage of sprint event. He is expecting more countries and competitors at this World Championship then at the last one. Race director, Albert Kontak, indicated that as many as 20 teams may be present.
The FIS Rollerski World Championships will start on Tuesday, August 28th, with team arrival. The first official training will begin the next day, and the first race, the prologue, will be held in Bistra on Thursday, August 30th. Friday is the sprint day, and after the race, the main town square in Oroslavje will host the opening ceremonies. On Saturday, September 1st, there will be a pursuit race in Stubicke Toplice. The World Championships will conclude on Sunday with the relay, followed by the closing ceremonies.
The OC is ready for the race, with the team that successfully organized two World Cup races gathered again.
