Three days of intense racing action will start with a sprint on December 28, followed by a pursuit format on December 29. The final day of competition, December 30, will be a relay format race. These races will determine junior (ages 19-21) and youth (under 19) team members. As many as 16 biathletes will earn a spot to represent the US at the World Junior Biathlon Championships in Ruhpolding, Germany January 26 — February 2, 2008.

As the snow makes its way down the mountains behind Anchorage, construction crews and volunteers are scrambling to put the final touches on a new, world-class HoRa electronic biathlon target system. In September Max Cobb, executive director of the US Biathlon Association, made a site visit to Kincaid and was impressed. “Alaska has a long history of producing some of Americas best biathletes, such as Olympians Jay Hakkinen and Jeremy Teela. Having our World Junior Trials in Anchorage will put new energy into Alaska biathlon as well as highlight this amazing facility.â€
Organizing Committee volunteer Joyce Widness was proud to hear Cobb's feedback. “The Anchorage biathlon community is very excited to host the World Junior Trials. This is one of the major national competitions held for our junior level biathletes.â€
