Guro Stroem Solli leads ladies rankings.

The 2010 FIS Roller Skiing World Cup season will soon be over. Only two of a total of 13 competitions for each gender are left and they will take place in Thessaloniki, the second biggest city in Greece on 25th-26th September. The schedule foresees a mass start uphill competition and a sprint, both in free technique.

The best chance for the ladies’ overall victory belong to the Norwegian Cross-Country skier Guro Stroem Solli who dominated the competitions in Italy last weekend, and now leads 122 points ahead of Russia’s Elena Rodina. Solli commented to langrenn.com after her victories: “It has been a great weekend, and now I feel that I really have a chance to capture the overall victory.” Hanna Seppas from Sweden currently ranks 3rd.

On the men’s side, Andres Svanebo from Sweden is leading 103 points ahead of Simone Paredi from Italy. Strong sprinter Ragnar Bragvin Andresen (NOR) is currently 3rd with a gap of 117 points after missing three of the eleven competitions.

In the FIS Roller Skiing World Cup, 100 points are awarded to the winner of each competition which means that 200 points counting for the overall ranking will still be awarded during the final weekend and changes for the top positions are possible. It’s an exciting final that awaits us in Thessaloniki in 10 days’ time!
