APUNSC Coach Holly Brooks and University of Alaska Fairbanks Head Coach Trond Flagstad clinched the season-long Alaska Mountain Running Grand Prix with strong performances in last week's Penguin Mountain Run.
Brooks won the women's 18-29 age-group title and placed second overall in 48 minutes, 46 seconds. She claimed the Grand Prix Title with 400 points, 75 ahead of the second place finisher.
Flagstad (30-39) was part of a three-way tie in Saturday's race with Barney Griffith (50-59) and Brad Precosky (40-49). They all finished in 42:06, locking hands as they crossed the finish line. IN the overall series, Flagstad edged Griffiths 400 to 380.
