The russian Cross-Country star and Olympic Gold medallist Julia Tsjepalova is suing Adidas for $1 million.

According to Tsjepalova’s home page, she feels that the German equipment giant has abused her name in their product marketing since 1998.

In a press release to NTB she says:
“ I have never given Adidas the rights to use my name, and because of this I have missed lucrative agreements. I want to protect my marketing value and my attorney is therefore preparing a $1 million case against Adidas”.

This past weekend, Tsjepalova ended up last in the prolog at the international rollerski event in Estonia. She missed last year’s season due to having a baby. In 1998 she surprisingly won the 30-km Olympic free technique race in Nagano. In 2002 she won the Olympic Gold in the sprint event.
