David Chamberlain wins men’s 10-km classical technique race. Rebecca Dussault easily wins the first sanctioned USSA Double Pursuit race.

Today’s SuperTour competitions at Soldier Hollow started with the 4-lap men’s 10-km interval start classical technique race. Even though the 2002 Olympic courses were not used, the new racecourse provided ample challenges for the skiers, including an almost 800m long climb right off the start. After the first two laps, David Chamberlain and Justin Freeman turned it up, and ended up contending for the win by themselves. David Chamberlain showed peak form on the last lap, double poling up long parts of the uphill climb out of the stadium, and ended up winning by 6 seconds.

Last Sunday’s winner Leif Zimmerman recorded another good race, ending up in third place.
