Utah skiers have for almost two decades got used to seeing former National Champion and two-time Olympian John Aalberg at the top of the result lists in the Wasatch Cross Country race series. John spent however six years (1996-2002) devoted to his job with the Salt Lake Olympics, designing and overseeing the Nordic venue and organizing all events at Soldier Hollow. His racing was drastically reduced and so was his training. Despite this he made a “comeback” at last year's Boulder Mountain Tour and finished less than a second behind the winner – despite experiencing two broken poles.
. Loomis placed third and John beat local “iron man” Barry Makarewicz for first (again).

The women’ open category was won by Roxanne Tooly. Second fastest time of the day was Team TorbjornSport member Lori Lange (1st age 40-44) and third fastest was Paula Seeley (1st age 35-39).

It was a good day for other Team TorbjornSport (TBS) members as well. We also had great skis with SOLDA S-30 covered with HPO5. John and I both had SOLDA S-30 over F-15 Violet on 20 minutes before start. However we decided to spray on HPO5 since it was warming up quite rapidly (Spray, dry, cork, polish and brush). The skies improved a great deal following this and we both had very good glide.

Dave Knoop (45-49) had the fastest time overall among the age group skiers (6th fastest overall) while I was second overall (to Dave) and in the same age category and 7th overall including elite wave. Dave is also on our training plan and I have seen him getting both stronger and technically and tactically better all fall. I knew he would soon come through with a good race and today it happened. Another Team TBS skier, Don Pollari was the clear winner of age 40-44.
