IOC Officially Upgrades Beckie Scott to Gold

Pursuant to the arbitral awards delivered by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) on 18 December 2003, the Executive Board (EB) of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) today unanimously decided:

– the exclusion of Johann Muehlegg and Olga Danilova from the XIX Olympic Winter Games of Salt Lake City 2002, is confirmed;

– both athletes are disqualified from all cross-country skiing competitions in which they participated during at the XIX Olympic Winter Games in Salt Lake City 2002;

– all results obtained are annulled;

– all medals are hereby withdrawn;

– the International Ski Federation(FIS) is requested to take measures to amend the rankings accordingly as follows:

– with respect to the men's 10 km free pursuit:
1st Frode Estil (Norway) and Thomas Aslgaard (Norway) (tied)
3rd Per Elofsson (Sweden)

– with respect to the men's 30 km free mass start:
1st Christian Hoffman (Austria)
2nd Mikhail Botvinov (Austria)
3rd Kristen Skjeldal (Norway)

– with respect to the women's 5 km free pursuit:
1st Beckie Scott (Canada)
2nd Katerina Neumannova (Czech Republic)
3rd Viola Bauer (Germany)

– with respect to the women's 10 km classical:
1st Bente Skari (Norway)
2nd Julija Tchepalova (Russian Federation)
3rd Stefania Belmondo (Italy)

The IOC will re-award the medals accordingly.
