cross-country skiers, ages 3 to 13 raced, played, toured, and cheered last<br />
weekend at the Banknorth New England Bill Koch League Festival in<br />
Waterville, Valley, NH. The sun came out for Saturday's relay awards, handed<br />
out by Gunstock Nordic (NH) coach and former Olympic skier for Russia, Nina<br />
Gavriljuk. None other than the League's namesake, 1976 Olympic Silver<br />
medalist, Bill Koch, was on hand to pass out the certificates to the oldest<br />
Bill Kochers, as they graduated from the Youth Ski League to the J2 level.</p>
<p>Sunday's sunny skies prevailed over the individual Skate races and the Wave<br />
Start Sprints. Skiers came from all over New England to Waterville Valley<br />
for a weekend of wax clinics, eleven races, mini-marathon tours, a pasta<br />
dinner, relays, awards of lollipops, ribbons and medals, raffle prizes and<br />
fun with friends and family. The Bill Koch Festival is the largest<br />
cross-country skiing event in New England, drawing well over 1,500 kids and<br />
