Scott, Kershaw Win Canadian Sprints

Christine Bission of Club du Ski Mont Ste Anne won the overall Madshus Sprint title for the second time in 4 year's as she raced against the best in the final heat of the 2004 National Sprint event in Charlo.  Although Bisson finished fourth in today's race she collected enough points to finish the season with 81 points and the Madshus crown.  Beckie Scott, Sarah Renner and Milaine Theriault, all recently off the World Cup circuit were one, two, three in the race today.

In the overall Mashus Series, Chandra Crwford of Canmore ended up in second position with 76 points while Dasha Gaiazova of SkiElite picked up third position for the season with 74 points.

On the men's side, Devon Kershaw of Ona*Wa*Su and the NST ended the season with his 3rd sprint victory and increased his overall Mashus Sprint Series lead to 115 points.  Kershaw was followed by Drew Goldsack the U23 World Champion gold medallist and Sean Crooks of Big Thunder Nordic.  Goldsack ended up with 83 points while Crooks followed with 70 points.

The series started in Vernon, BC last December and included Haywood NorAm events in Telemark, BC and Calgary, AB.   In all 4 races counted towards the Sprint Champion.

Races resume at the National Championships with the Canadian Colleges and University Relay event on Saturday followed by the distance events on Sunday.
