The Swedish national team is despite lack of snow in most of the country getting in good on-snow skiing in Bruksvallarna, according to Swedish Skidsport.com

The savior has as often before been the road toward Mittaklappen. Go to http://www.skidsport.com/index.php?id=2891 so see a photo of the current ski condition. It looks great!

The snow situation is a hot topic these days. The World Cup opener is in Ostersund in two weeks, but warm weather and currently no snow makes that event “up in the air”.

Bruksvallerna’s own races and the Swedish season premier next week can also be tough to organize. It’s close to impossible to run a race with this many participants on the road and it’s currently not enough snow in town or cold enough to make snow.

The organizers are fighting to save the races, says chief of race Peder Persson.

– This weekend is critical, but it’s not looking good for more snow or colder temperatures.

There are currently many Norwegians and Danish racers in Bruksvallarna as well, to gain valuable on-snow ski time.

The Swedish national team coach said that they are not spending any time “getting used to being on snow” despite this being only the second day on Swedish snow. They are instead doing interval training in the tough uphills.

– We have been on snow lately and can’t wait with hard training, the World Cup races are only two weeks away.
