The Norwegian men’s team did not have a great day in the 4 x 10 kilometer World Cup relay in Gallivare on Sunday. A sixth place is way below expectations, and so were the performances in the individual race.Â

Today’s performance was about as expected.

– We ran the “B-Team†and Eldar Ronning and Jens Arne Svartedal skied well, while Geir Ludvig Aasen lost a bit on the third leg. It was inexperienced of him to take the lead and pull, but you learn from that too, said national team coach, Krister Soregard after the race.

It was borderline racing or not because of the very cold conditions in Gallivare.

-The temperature varied between —15 and —15 to -20 Celsius. We choose for that reason to not race Frode Estil and Odd-Bjorn Hjelmeset since they both are struggling when it gets that cold. There are more important races coming up already this weekend, says Soregard.

The Norwegian skiers will now remain in Gallivare until Wednesday when they travel to Kuusamo, Finland for this upcoming weekend’s races.
