Davos, Switzerland:
Canadian national team skier Sarah Renner started the World Cup season in Gallivare, Sweden with a 33rd place in the 10-K classic. A week later she was 31 in the 10-K skate in Kuusamo, Finland and improved even more two days later by placing 23 in the 10-k classic.
Fasterskier.com got a chance to ask her a few questions before the Wold cup sprint race in Bern this weekend:

Sara, it looks like you are skiing faster and faster as you are getting in more races. What are your thoughts after the two first weekends of World Cup races?

– Today, we are off to Bern for tomorrow’s (Saturday) World Cup sprint race. George Grey will stay here in Davos to prepare for next weeks World Cup races in Val di Fiemme. I have had a good summer/fall of training and I think it is a matter of patience for the hard work to be reflected in the results. I am satisfied with the last classic race in Kuusamo and feel like I am on the right track now. I am a late bloomer and my results usually get better as the season progresses so I’m hoping to get stronger as we approach the Christmas break.

What you are working on and aiming for in the next couple weeks?
I hope to be fighting for a top 10 in the sprints and top 20 in the rest of the distance races. Â

What’s your approach for the upcoming sprint race in Bern?
My biggest challenge is to not run out of steam in the final push to the finish. We will see what happens.
