Val di Fiemme – Marit Bjoergen (NOR) and Axel Teichmann (GER), the two leaders of the overall World Cup, are the two big winners of the pursuit race in Val di Fiemme. The German was expected to win, and he continues to show his dominance of the World Cup circuit.
42nd, Andrew Johnson (Greensboro, VT) 47th, Carl Swenson (Conway, NH) 59th in the field of 75. This looks like a good result for Johnson who could be starting to come on after getting a few more World Cup starts under his belt.

Canada’s George Grey found himself caught in it during the men’s 30 kilometre pursuit. The 25-year-old of Rossland, B.C., who is gaining valuable experience racing against the worlds best in his first full stint on the World Cup, finished well back of the pack in 67th with a time of 1:19:24.4.

The men's race was very lively with many changes in positions. The Russian athletes started the fight with Dementiev and Ivanov, while Teichmann controlled the situation of the group. Pietro Piller also remained with the best competitors together with Vittoz.

Teichmann, during the second lap in skating, started to push. In the successive lap, Pietro Piller took the leadership followed by Fredriksson and Teichmann.

On the fourth skating lap Vittoz imposed the pace with Fredriksson behind him, Teichmann and Piller Cottrer tried not to let him gain too much ground. During the last lap there were two turning points: Piller Cottrer together with Teichmann fell down, but the German was able to catch up very quickly, then also Di Centa, Valbusa and Checchi fell down and the local public’s dream of an Italian-dominated podium vanished.

In the final sprint Teichmann had no problems in controlling Filbrich and Vittoz. The German Angerer fell 100 meters before the finish line.
