Skiing on home turf at the Trapp Family Lodge in Stowe, Vermont, University of Vermont skiers took the top two spots in the men's 20km mass-start freestyle. On the women's side, it was a Dartmouth 1-2 which led the college to an overall carnival win.
 finished second ahead of Emilia Demarchis of UVM.</p>
<p>The men faced 20km on a softening course with quite a bit of tough climbing. A large lead pack hung together for the first two laps, and then it was time to see who was saving something for the second half of the race. On the third lap, the top three finishers opened up a big gap to what then became a much more strung-out field. In the top three were UVM's Ethan Foster and Lowell Bailey, as well as Garrott Kuzzy of Middlebury. </p>
