Teichmann won the 30-kilometer pursuit in Val di Fiemme in December but came up short in the sprint this weekend.

Italy: Spanish skier Juan Jesus Gutierrez won the 42-kilometer Toblach to Cortina freestyle marathon this weekend by beating a number of top World Cup skiers including Axel Teichman of Germany, reports Swedish skidsport.com

The German team is currently in Toblach training and used the race as a tune-up for the upcoming Worlds in Oberstdorf, Germany.

Gutierrez won the race for the second year in a row and out sprinted some of the best skaters in the World.

Home-favorite Pietro Piller Cottrer was second and Andrea Sclutter of Germany was third. The dominating World Cup skier, Teichmann was sixth, seven seconds behind the winner.

More than 1000 skiers did the race.
