The weather in Truckee was warm and sunny today, and the competition was even hotter. Here's a look at today's winners in the Junior National freestyle races.
Sadie Bjornsen (Methow Valley Nordic) moved up to the top step of the podium today after placing second in the sprints on Monday, winning the 5K race in a time of 14:38.1. She scored a scant 0.4 second victory over Ase Carlson (Bridger Ski Foundation), while Carlson's Bridger teammate Kate Dolan took third place in her second straight race.

Alex Howe (Gunstock Nordic)is now two for two in the J2 boys class, this time with a 5K time of 12:20.6 and a convincing 36 second margin of victory. Patrick Johnson (Alaska WinterStars) picked up his second silver medal of the week, edging out his Alaska WinterStars teammate Lex Treinen for second place by 8 seconds.</p>
<p>Rosie Brennan (National Sports Foundation) now has a gold medal to go with her bronze from Monday. Her time in the 10K freestyle of 29:03.8 was over a minute faster than second place Alexa Turzian of Sun Valley. Fiona Worchester of Alaska WinterStars was third.</p>
<p>Simi Hamilton (Aspen), who won all the J1 races at last year's JO's, was back on top of the J1 boys class today, posting the fastest 15K time of the day, 34:52.8. Sprint Champion Matt Gelso (Auburn Ski Club) was second and Sylvan Ellefson (Vail) was third.</p>
<p>Morgan Arritola (Sun Valley) won the girls OJ class, posting the fastest girls time of the day, 27:32.1. Julia Coulter (Traverse City Nordic) was second and Katrina Howe (Gunstock) was third.</p>
<p>Dylan Mogk (Bridger) won the boys OJ class in a time of 36:33.9. Local boy Dominic Henriques (Auburn Ski Club) finished just 7 seconds off the pace to take second, and Mike Hinkley brought the Alaska WinterStars club's medal haul to 4 for the day by taking third.</p>
<p>Junior Nationals races continue on Friday with the classic distance races.</p>
