MARCIALONGA AIMS TO THE WORLD CUP AGAIN IN 2008

-The Marcialonga committee is planning the future
-The race from Moena to Predazzo will be a real new event
-Marcialonga aims to be included in the FIS Marathon Cup in 2006 and 2007

The organising committee of Marcialonga, the famous Italian cross country popular race, is deciding the future of the event, the 33rd edition of which will take place the 29th of January 2006.

The first news is the “Marcialonga Light 45 km”, an easier race that will take the skiers from Moena to Predazzo. The competitors will wear a different bib to be recognizable among the others. A specific prize money and also the same services as in the “mother” race will be reserved to “Marcialonga Light 45 Km”.

Another big news, is that Marcialonga has the intention to ask again the World Cup for 2008. After the success of the 2003 edition and the unanimuos plaudits, the president Alfredo Weiss would like to take again the champions of cross-country skiing along the 70 kilometres from Moena (Val di Fassa) to Cavalese (Val di Fiemme).

At the same time, for the 2006 and 2007 Marcialonga is aiming to be a race of FIS Marathon Cup, the long distance World Cup.

But other ideas are growing for the future, like the organisation of a women race the day before Marcialonga. Obviously, the MiniMarcialonga, the Marcialonga Stars and the Marcialonga Running (3rd edition on 4th September) are confirmed.
