Sten Fjeldheim Named US Domestic Coach of the Year

Congratulations to Sten Fjeldheim. The Head Coach of Northern Michigan University, Marquette, MI was awarded this past weekend at the US Ski and Snowboard Association annual Spring Congress in Park City, UT the honor of being named the US Domestic Cross Country Coach of the Year. He was also recognized as the US Development Coach of the Year, an award among coaches of all snow sport disciplines. During a humorous and motivating acceptance, Sten acknowledged the great support he has received over the years from the cross country community and stressed the need for all cross country interests to work together for the greater good of the sport. Sten’s busy summer schedule includes a one week coaching stint with the top athletes and coaches in the Central Region at the CXC Regional Elite Group Camp at Cresthill Resort in Hayward, WI June 18-24.

Central Cross Country Skiing is the designated body for the development of cross country skiers in the 10 state Central Region of the United States. CXC Skiing oversees youth programs; supports the Junior Olympic Qualifying system, the Central Collegiate Ski Association, and Senior/Master skiing; provides athlete, coach's and official's education; coordinates competitions; and is the Midwest pipeline to the US Ski Team.
