Trond Iversen need to stay away from normal training for 4-6 weeks after he collided with a child right after he crossed the finish line as the 100-meter winner in Kragero, Saturday last week.
– I was skiing at very high speed and crashed with a small child that had climbed up on the snow. The crash wasn’t that hard, but I got rotation and landed on my shoulder that got a big bump, says Iversen on the phone from the hospital in Drammen where he was taken for an evaluation.

Iversen won the 100-meter race and was second in the longer sprint race in Kragero. He was second in an on snow sprint race at the national team’s on-snow camp at Sognefjellet last week and sixth in a 12-kilometer classic race where the entire long distance team also raced. He was in other words in good shape and had got a good start on his Olympic preparations.

The national team’s physician believes that it will take some time before he is back doing normal training.

– Knut Gabrielsen has advised me that I should be careful and keep my arm close to the body for the next two weeks. He estimates that it will take 4-6 weeks before I can rollerski again.

The child Iversen collided with was not injured.

– He got very scared, but I hope he is doing fine, says Iversen.

– It’s un-necessary that things like this happen, but it’s still early, so I need to be patient and train alternative methods, says Iversen.
