ROLLERSKI GETS READY FOR THE WORLD CUP 2005

Press Release, 29th June 2005

Rollerskiing World Cup for the year 2005 is getting ready to start next weekend with the first race in calendar. The large company of ‘nordic ski on wheels’ will meet the first weekend of July in Cesis, Latvia: the programme is set up with a first pursuit race split in two days: friday 1st
July and sunday 3rd July to continue on saturday with a sprint race downtown the Lettonian city on Saturday 2nd July. More info available on the web site www.cesis.lv/rollerski

Expected to attend the very best rollerskiers, who won’t miss the meeting, just like last year’s World Cup winners, the Italian Alfio Di Gregorio (men elite) and Russian Elena Vedeneeva (women elite). Could it be once again a double cross challenge Italy and Russia? Yes, this could be possibile as both the Russian Igor Glouchkov and the other Italian Simone Paredi (respectivly second and third place in the World Cup 2004) have confirmed they’ll be in Cesis. In women’s category the Russian Vedeneeva will compete with Viviana Druidi and her team mate Marina Firsova. Special attention must be payed to the other athlethes coming from Germany and Sweden, always protagonists in Rollerski, as well as the long distance athletes from the hosting country, which has been organizing in the past seasons FIS Rollerski races, confirming the excellent enthusiasm of the national Baltic movement.
In Cesis also have been set up also races for young Rollerskiers, which will assign the first scores in the Junior women and men World Cup category.

Later next week the Rollerskiing people will meet in France to attend the Villard de Lans sprint competition, set up on 9th of July and for the following day a mass start. Third appointment in Croatia from the 19th to the 21st of August in the well-know touristic resort of Oroslavje (sprint and pursuit) and the fourth étape will take place in Geyer, Germany, from the 2nd to the 4th of September for a sprint ana pursuit race. The Rollerskiing world circuit wil end up in Italy during the weekend of 17th to the 18th of September, just like last year in Sestola, nearby Modena.

Great attention for the World Cup circuit (from a couple of season under the protection of the FIS – International Federation of Ski), but don’t forget that Rollerski season will see its top moments thanks to the World Championships scheduled in La Tremblade, France, on the Atlantic coast from the 8th to the 11th of September.
