I recently acquired a pair of Pro-Ski Roadline Tech classic rollerskis. These skis are interesting from a number of perspectives. Notably, the ratchet is located in the front wheel, which is smaller than the back wheel. The back wheel could be described as typical for a classic rollerski.
, the Roadline Techs provide a much more realistic imitation of classic skiing than was previously available. If you ski properly with these, the ski behaves much like a normal classic rollerski except for a minimal amount of slip at the very end of the kick, much like a real and properly waxed ski behaves on snow. It is barely enough to notice, but when skiing with others I quickly realized that I was falling behind ever so slightly on the uphills as a result of losing an inch or two of forward thrust with each kick. Where these skis really demonstrate their usefulness is when you start to get sloppy. If you don’t kick down fairly aggressively, or if you weight the ski too far towards the back, you will get significant slippage. In other words, this aspect of the ski helps to keep you sharp with your kick.

Apart from this innovative feature, the skis performed very nicely in other respects. They are nimble for a classic rollerski (probably in part due to the narrow front wheel) and track remarkably straight. If I were to point out one slightly weak point of the skis, it would be that they seem to be a touch less stable than ones which do not have a narrow front wheel. While this was not a problem for me at slow speeds, if you like to really blast it while doing diagonal, you might find them just a bit on the tippy side. The speed of the skis might be described as medium-slow. I realize that this is a relative term, but I found that when skiing with my teammates who have an assortment of rollerskis of different brands that there were a couple of people who had skis that were a bit slower than mine, a couple just a hair faster, and a couple who always seem to have fluor waxed like speed.
