Marit Bjorgen hit the wall after only two kilometer when the Norwegian women’s team did a rollerski time-trial at altitude in Italy on Monday, reports Norwegian newspaper Adresseavisen.

Bjorgun was not the only one that experienced problems. Several of her teammates also stopped and jumped into the support car in the tough hills up to Livigno.

– I was a bit too optimistic when I started and hit the wall. It's bitter to have to stop the workout, but there is no reason for concern. Some days are just extra tough when you get up to altitude, said Bjorgen.

The time-trial was seven kilometers of uphill up to 2300 meter. It was the first time this season that Bjorgen has struggled like this.

– I have beaten my own records in all the other time-trials and I’m at a higher physical level than in the past.

The national team is on an 18 day long camp in the Toscana area in Northern Italy.

Marit has taken another step up, confirms coach Samdal.

He is also saying that Kine Beate Bjornas is making notable progress.

The team is among other training a lot on rollerskis in long and hard uphills.

– We are doing both diagonal and V1 on rollerskis, two things that will be important this winter, says Samdal.
