The Maine Winter Sports Center aims to re-establish skiing as a lifestyle in Maine, leverage that lifestyle to create a new economic model for rural, isolated communities of Maine, and further leverage that lifestyle to create opportunity to the youth of Maine.

The Maine Winter Sports Center (MWSC) is looking for a multitalented Ski Coach to join a team of coaches who are offering world class Nordic and Biathlon training and experiences in Aroostook County Maine. The candidate will be responsible for implementing development training programs to participants at every age group, from Middle School, High School, College, to post collegiate and Masters. In addition, this coach will share direct responsibility for community outreach and ski club building in remote communities around Aroostook County. These grass root community outreach efforts may include meetings, speaking engagements, trail building, ski park design, learn to ski clinics, learn to shoot clinics and on-snow school visits. The candidate will need to learn the sport of Biathlon to a point that they can serve a supporting role during Biathlon training and competitions, as well as to be able to run learn to shoot programs with live ammunition rifles as well as with laser rifles. Candidate will be expected to create strong relationships with local and regional youth coaches, Middle School and High School Coaches, Collegiate Coaches, Community Ski Clubs, and the organizing committees of our two World Class Nordic/Biathlon Venues. Skilled and effective communication as well as inspired leadership are critical pre-requisites for the position of MWSC Coach. MWSC Coaches will be involved in the initiation and implementation of other programs and events and other duties that will advance the MWSC toward its mission. This position is a full-time position to begin May 1, 2006. Compensation includes salary, excellent benefit package, housing allowance, and the use of a vehicle, laptop computer and mobile phone.
