Newell Wins Prestigious Night Sprint In Germany

Manuela Henkel and Andy Newell won the prestigious night-sprints in Fischen, Germany.

In the mens race American Newell succeeded against German Johannes Bredl and Austrian Martin Stockinger. In fourth place was Sean Crooks from Canada. Erik Haenel was sixth, Christoph Schweiger was the best Allgäu native among the men in eighth place. American Torin Koos was the first qualifier and finished 5th.

Under the snowfall and in front of a curtain of 1000 fans, the Allgäu native Henkel held off Russians Julija Tchepalova and Olga Rocheva who too 2nd and 3rd place respectively. Fourth place was Allgäu native Carolin Haibel.

Both Henkel and Newell were therefore recommended for front positions before the World Cup sprint in Oberstdorf.
